About Bruck
Bruck Group was established in the inland city of Wangaratta (North Eastern Victoria, Australia) in 1946 and began as a manufacturer and supplier of furnishing and apparel fabrics for fashion markets.
As the supply chain began relocating to low cost countries, Bruck transformed itself by specializing in technical fabrics such as high performance, protective, uniform fabrics for Defence, fire protective services, aluminum smelters, steel manufacturing, ballistics, automotive, insect repellant, theatre seating, sophisticated anti-microbial and other technical fabrics; such as coated blind fabrics for the home.
Bruck has always been strongly committed to Australian manufacture, innovation, the environment, equal opportunity and safe work practices and has a wide network of global sourcing capabilities.
The Bruck business is now the largest manufacturer of woven fabrics in Australia and is the major supplier of combat apparel fabrics to the Australian Defence Force. The operation is fully vertical with warping, weaving, dyeing, printing, coating, finishing and lamination all within one facility.
The key milestones in Bruck’s transition are:
- The acquisition of National Textiles in the late 1990’s
- The granting of a Proban® license by Rhodia International Inc in France
- The purchase of a Proban® curing machine to enable Bruck’s entry into the production of technical fire retardant treated fabrics;
- The purchase of a lamination machine in 2007, for production of specialised wet weather laminated fabrics
- The acquisition of the business of Melbatex Pty Ltd (Melba) on 29 May 2009, to broadened Bruck’s ranges of protective fabrics into markets such as anti-Ballistics, Fire Services, Metal Splash and Automotive.
